Carl A. Furr Elementary's

School Counseling Program

The mission of the Carl A. Furr Elementary school counseling program is to assist our diverse student population in overcoming barriers preventing them from achieving higher level learning by providing opportunities for all students to grow in their academic achievement, personal/social development, and career development needs, resulting in a foundation for a successful future.

 

Furr's School Counseling Program incorporates:

Classroom guidance lessons

Small groups

Falcon Leaders (like safety patrol)

 

Falcon Buddies (new student program)

Referrals to outside counseling agencies

Linking families to community resources

Individual counseling

Character Awards

 

Red Ribbon Week

No Name Calling Week

 

 

Consultation on behavior plans/MTSS support

Access to counseling books/resources (anxiety, social skills, grief, divorce, organization, parenting resources, etc.)

 

Student assistance programs  (toy drives and Jr. charity league clothing closet)

 

 

Assist in transition to middle school 

 

 

 

The counselors at Carl A. Furr Elementary believe:

  • All students have the ability to learn
  • All students, no matter how diverse their cultural background, deserve a fair and equal education.
  • All students should benefit from preventative and responsive services of the school counseling program.
  • All students should feel safe and cared for at school.
