Mrs. Elizabeth Foster, Principal
Welcome to Carl A. Furr Elementary School. I am excited to be a part of the Furr community and look forward to building relationships with students, staff, and the community while we work together to achieve student success. I began my career with Cabarrus County Schools in 2006. I served as an Exceptional Children's teacher previously at Concord Middle School and Hickory Ridge Middle School. I began my administrative career as an assistant principal at Central Cabarrus High School in 2014 and then transitioned to Rocky River Elementary in 2019. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College and my master’s degree from Wingate University. I am originally from upstate New York and currently live in Midland with my husband, two boys, and sweet cat. I am looking forwarding to a wonderful school year. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if there is something I can help with.
Mrs. Tiffane Maltba, Assistant Principal
I have been a member of the Furr family for several years, where I contributed as an educator across various grade levels before assuming the role of Assistant Principal. My deep appreciation for our Furr community encompasses our students, families, and dedicated staff. Serving this community has been a profound privilege.
My educational background includes a BA in Education from Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, PA, and I earned a Masters in Executive Leadership from Gardner-Webb University in May 2017. Originally from Montoursville, PA, I currently reside in Concord, NC with my husband and our daughter Carlee, who recently graduated from NC State. Our family also includes two dogs, Smitty and Teddy, both named in homage to former Carolina Panthers players.
Beyond my professional commitments, I cherish spending time with my family and friends, as well as enjoying walks outdoors.
Mr. Dillon Widder, Assistant Principal
I am so excited to join the Carl A. Furr Elementary family! I have always had a passion for reading and look forward to helping every child reach their greatest potential.
I was born and raised a Cubs fan in Chicago until my family moved to Georgia in 1996. I was inspired to enter the field of education in 2015 when I began my Master’s of Education program at my alma mater: Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Upon completion, I taught for one year in Conyers, GA before moving to Charlotte with my wife, Emily, in 2017. I taught 7th grade Language Arts and Social Studies at Bailey Middle School for six years. During this time, my wife and I were blessed with two beautiful boys, James and Ethan. After my second son was born, I attended UNCC to obtain my Post-Master’s Certificate in Administration and began working as interim Dean of Students at Bailey Middle School in 2021. In 2022, I became Dean of Students and 6th-8th grade administrator at Davidson K-8.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, commiserating over the Bears/Cubs, building furniture, DIY projects, and trying new foods.
