Back to School Greeting - We hope you and your family have been enjoying a fun and relaxing summer! As we prepare to welcome our Falcons back on Wednesday, August 12, please take a few moments to review the important information below to help ensure a smooth start to the school year. We can't wait to partner with you as we spend this year Building Excellence together!
Open House - All families are invited to our Open House on Monday, August 10th from 5:00–7:00 pm. This is a drop-in event, so feel free to stop by any time during that window. Students in grades 1-5 will receive a message via ParentSquare by noon on August 10th notifying you of the homeroom teacher.
Updated Dress Code - At the Summer School Improvement Team meeting on July 13, 2026, the following clarifications were made to the Carl A. Furr Elementary dress code beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. These clarifications are intended to provide consistent expectations for students and families.
- Dress should be appropriate for learning and suitable for an elementary school setting.
- Midriffs must be fully covered. Shirts or tops must meet the waistband of pants, shorts, or skirts.
- Hoodies may be worn; however, hoods must not obstruct the student's face or ears.
- Hats may not be worn inside the school building except on designated spirit days.
- Headphones are governed by the school's Electronic Device Policy and should not be worn or used unless a staff member has given permission for an instructional purpose.
All students who do not follow clothing guidelines will either call home for a change of clothes or borrow clothes from the Carl A. Furr Clothing Closet.
Technology Policy - CCS technology policy was updated before the start of the 24-25 school year. Elementary school students are not allowed to utilize electronic devices from arrival on campus through departure from campus. Students are required to power off and securely store their cell phones away from their person throughout the school day. If students are using a smart watch as an electronic communication device then it follows the same rules as a cell phone. Students may only use smart watches as a watch. Full details can be found in
Policy 4318.
Tardy Policy - CCS Board Policy states, "A student shall be in his/her assigned area at the beginning of the school day and the beginning of each class, or he/she will be recorded as tardy." Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, this policy will be consistently enforced. Students must be in their homeroom classroom when the 8:15 a.m. bell rings. Students who arrive after that time will be marked tardy. To help ensure students arrive on time and to maintain a safe car rider arrival process, the car rider entrance will close at 8:12 a.m. At that time, staff will move the cones to prevent additional vehicles from entering the drop-off line. If you arrive after the cones have been moved, you will need to park and walk your child into the front office to sign them in.
